I guess I am just excited about going to the Rally again (as a spectator of course).

The cam is charging, the pass will be bought tomorrow and the routes are somewhat planned! Nice...

One more day left and the Cyprus Rally, 2005 will be in full swing. The event is part of the World Rally Championship (WRC) and it is well known for its level of difficulty, roughness and twists (literally).

If you are now in Cyprus and you love cars and speed, then this is an event you shouldn't miss.

One week after the Google Web Accelerator was launched, the company decided to put a (temporary?) stop to more downloads of the product.

According to Google this was done because the company has reahced its capacity of users (that could be supported for now). There are those though who believe that the product has been stopped due to security concerns, expressed by many users.

I personally downloaded the product. I think it has made my IE to load pages a bit faster. The downside is that it conusmes more than enough memory. As far as security goes; how can I really test this?

And you thought Pringles was all about chips! Well think again. I came across this article today and it seems that you can make your own D.I.Y. antenna out of a Pringles box, for wireless reception; it can help you detect hidden wireless networks around a certain area.

Such an antenna gives you a stronger reception signal, therefore helping you identify networks that you possibly couldn't detect before.

In any case, do your research first before trying anything. There are endless suggestions online. Of course you shouldn't use such devices for any hacking purposes, etc. (Just a toy to play with, if you have the time).

Could this be the beginning of true computer mobility? I would like to think that technology will adavnce in such a way that in the future electricity could be passed wirelessly to laptop computers (sounds crazy but you never know...).

As things stand today we always depend on a battery life of 7 to 8 hrs (in the best case scenario and if we are using one of the latest laptop models). There is always one wire that we still have to carry around (well most of us), and that is the power cord. It would be just amazing to get rid of that too.

Imagine the possibilities. Going with your laptop wherever, without having to worry about what plug interface you have to carry with you, without having to worry about the battery, the wire and so on...Just surfing and being "powered-up" at the same time, for hours! All you would have to carry would be your trusty laptop. (This could also mean that battery space could now be replaced by other components, making laptops even more functional).

Just a thought.

After BMW, Volvo and VW guess who is coming out with an SUV. You guessed right, Audi.

There is currently a huge campaign on the internet for Audi Q7 with many sites carrying the distinctive red ad banners of Audi.

Competition is heating up in this class of vehicles, with car makers trying to target the buyer that wants an all terrain car, yet still luxurious and city funky.

I always had suspicions that "big" websites would be using such tacticts so to promote themselves or "bully" critics of theirs. This time round though bloggers might have come up with something solid.

Having read the article on the Wired site made me think what must be going on backstage; IT departments and technologists trying to find ways to promote their employer's site. Crazy battles going on as to whom will have the most hits, ads and subscriptions.

It's about time they did this. Download.com advertises on its front page (today) that they will not distribute any software that comes bundled with adware. It took them long enough to do something about this issue; but hey better now than never.

I don't want to even think of the times I got something off their site, with adware in it. Gggrrrr. Let's not even go into naming software and sites now. It is not the time (probably on another post).

Tiger has finally been released. I am not an Apple user myself, however reading about some of the new features of Tiger makes me wonder whether I should buy an Apple soon. Just take a look at the screenshots on the Apple website and you will understand what I'm talking about.

(Beware...I haven't said I'm buying an Apple for sure).

Yahoo news site just got better

I was following the beta version of the Yahoo news site for a while now and I noticed that the site went out of beta yesterday.

The results are obvious once you go to the site (http://news.yahoo.com). The graphics are waaaay better than they used to be, giving to the website a fresher look and feel.

The feature I like the most though is the buttons bar found at the top of each news category, which allows the user to switch news provider in just a single click. This clever design allows Yahoo to concentrate, for the user, a lot of news from a lot of sources in just one single page.

So Google news just got itself a competitor (again).

Ok, this is old news but since I started the blog a few days back I thought it was worth mentioning, again.

IE7 betas will be released this summer. The Microsoft people are promising a lot of things, such as making the browser more CSS compliant and more secure (see phishing attacks).

I don't know why but over the last few days I have been obsessed with reading feeds from various sites (I am kind of a news freak). Ok, part of the reason was my accidental discovery of Blog Navigator by Stardock. What a nice little program this is. Very clean interface, very easy to use and simply doing the job.

In addition, I came across Newsgator. I am using the free web edition for now and it's simply superb that I can browse through my fave feeds while at work, or not at home in general. There are many more features for the both the free and paid versions.

Check them out if and you won't regret it.

Adobe and Macromedia

These two giants are merging! Who would have ever thought that this could ever happen? Two companies with direct rival products joining forces. Is this good? A lot are arguing that is it not a good idea as this will put a stop to Macromedia's innovative character.

I wonder what will happen to Macromedia's products; after all is Adobe that acquired Macromedia. Let's hope that the legion of developers using Macromedia products will not suffer. For a statement on the merge go here.
